35018 British India Line hauls the London to Settle & Carlisle tour up Wilpshire Bank 9/4/22
Southern Railways Merchant Navy No. 35018 'British India Line' tackles the gradient at Wilpshire Bank in Lancashire, England hauling the London to Settle and Carlisle railtour.
The tour was promoted by Steam Dreams and operated by West Coast Railways, conducted on Saturday 9th April 2022.
As those who follow my channel will know, I have not posted a video in four years, this is in part due to moving house, being in and out of work, and focusing more on stills photography.
However, as I always take my mobile phone with me and never seem to post my videos, I thought this time, why not?
I must apologise; the video isn't as still and pin sharp as previous, there is wind blowing out the microphone...

In this video we see LMS Royal Scot No. 46115 Scots Guardsman take command of its final railtour before being withdrawn for overhaul. The engine was hauling The Dalesman but a Thames-Clyde Express headboard donned the engine. Appearing from out of Blea Moor Tunnel, Guardsman speeds past the camera one last time headed for Carlisle.

In this video we head to Vicarage Lane at Wilpshire Bank where LMS 6P No. 45699 'Galatea' was running over the Carnforth Circle route on a crew training run, one of a few in the week. The maneuvers are incredible to witness ... in the true sense of the word .. I am german so I will never find words in plain english for dumping the Vulcan, SRN4 Mountbatten fleet and Concorde. Wait, there is one, hypocrisy. And the rescued money is anyway much safer put down with topnotch consulting outfits. She should have rolled once more 🌹.

How do they get it to bury from the mainline?
The Vulcan was the most interesting bomber in history. I love these clips from the past, brings back great memories.

I love a Driver's Eye View, especially if it's from the cab of a GWR Manor engine. This is what I love best. Please show me another GWR Manor style. It's my favourite kind.

I have watched this video several times and it never fails to move me. I was there on the day, tears flowing freely, it must have been some Vulcan grit. Such a shame she will never fly again.

What a memorable sight and sound, I was there standing way out on the beach that day with the Vulcan howling directly overhead and climbing straight above me. I've spent my whole working life close to all the European fighter aircraft but this aircraft I'll always remember as being so different.

I was working near Eccles, Manchester when this occurred. The cops closed the barton bridge on the M60. We all got out and had an awesome view of this great bird doing laps around the sky. Unforgettable.

Kevin The GoPro is just a bog standard GoPro Hero. It doesn't have a screen on the back, point and shoot and hope for the best!

I worked as a fitter at Agecroft Power Station when the 3 RSH locos were still in use. The main driver was Ken Caulfield, we called him The Bishop, as he was a devout church goer and never EVER swore. 😀
